How to manage your self-care in the year of the Golden Ox

WELCOME TO THE YEAR OF THE GOLDEN OX.

New years can feel like they carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. All the expectation, all the anticipation and all the pressure for things to be different. That’s my perception and right now most of us are really hoping that things will be different as ground hog day begins afresh every morning we wake.

But wait. It doesn’t have to be that way. We get to choose right? We don’t have to place these expectations on what is after all a new day. Remember every day, every breath is new but it doesn’t have to be a big thing.

That said, I do properly love the Chinese perspective of new year. And in the type of acupuncture I practice, time, be it season or time of day, can be important guides to help us live well.

This new year is the year of the Golden Ox. It’s a pretty special year and after the fast-paced turbulent time we had during last year’s year of the Rat it’s time to slow down. The ox is loved and respected for hard work, for a slower and more considered pace and taking it’s time along the way.

If you’d like to know more about the energy of this new year and tips for self-care in the year of the ox (for instance why you might need to rest more or eat lighter food) sign up for our Little Book of Self-Care in the Year of the Ox booklet. And please do share with others, that’s what this year is all about – community and kindness.

With love, abundance and good fortune for the year ahead.
